PORTLAND, OR – Let us be clear. This bombing is an illegal act of war that risks dragging the United States into another endless, catastrophic conflict. It doesn’t make us safer; it shatters trust, destroys diplomacy, and endangers us all. At this point, we don’t know the death toll of innocent Iranians, but it will keep rising.
By choosing war over dialogue, the administration has shattered the diplomatic process and made a return to negotiations nearly impossible. This move brings the world closer to long-term danger, not stability.
The Trump regime is acting without restraint. This is the consequence of militarism—a system that normalizes military force as the main tool of policy. It treats violence as security and dismisses human life as collateral.
As peace professionals, we reject this logic. We work with partners to address militarism at its roots. We challenge assumptions that portray military force as protection. We focus on human security and nonviolent solutions.
